Finding Whole-Self Healing with Keyayanna of Ashakti Wellness

When it comes to mental health and holistic wellness, Keyayanna is doing the work for herself and for the community she serves. She’s a psychotherapist, wellness coach, and Reiki practitioner at Ashakti Wellness in Charlotte, and the creative force behind Ray of Sunshines, Mindset and Miles on YouTube, where she shares approachable tips on mindfulness, mental health, and personal growth.

From Inspiration to Purpose

Keyayanna’s journey into mental health began in college, working at the Office of Victim Services at the College of Charleston.

“I saw my supervisor serve as a guide for students processing difficult experiences,” she shares. “That mentorship sparked my own path into counseling, even though my family had envisioned a different future for me.”

Her passion for holistic wellness grew from her personal healing journey, discovering her strengths and learning how to use them not just for others, but for herself.

Blending Therapy with Holistic Practices

At Ashakti Wellness, Keyayanna combines traditional therapy with alternative healing practices, creating a space where clients can explore wellness in the way that works best for them. Her approach includes:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) – Reshape unhealthy thinking patterns

  • Narrative Therapy – Author your own life story

  • Somatic Therapy – Connect body and mind

  • Reiki, Sound Baths, Chakra Education, Aromatherapy, and Mindfulness Practices

“Holistic health is about the whole self,” Keyayanna says.
“I’m helping you figure out your whole self, and what that looks like.”

Mentorship and Community

Mentorship has been central to Keyayanna’s growth. Her clinical supervisor, Asha Sims, guided her to embrace her passions and share her gifts with the world. Inspired, Keyayanna now hosts community events like Reiki circles and sound bath workshops, spaces where people can connect, heal, and feel safe.

“It’s about leaning into the things you love. When you do that, others will see your excitement and want to be part of it.”

Sharing Wellness Online

Keyayanna also brings her holistic approach online through her YouTube channel. By repurposing her therapy insights and coaching tips, she creates content that aligns with her work and makes mindfulness and mental health approachable for a broader audience.

“Grad school was overwhelming, and I realized I wanted content creation to feel like joy, not extra work,” she shares. “Now, I’m able to combine what I do as a therapist with what I share online, making it authentic and manageable.”

The Takeaway

Holistic wellness is more than a practice; it’s a lifestyle. Keyayanna’s work reminds us that healing is a journey of self-discovery, community, and empowerment. Whether you’re exploring therapy, mindfulness, or holistic healing, her approach shows that connecting with your mind, body, and spirit is always within reach.

“Holistic health isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s about finding what resonates with you and embracing your whole self.”
